Making Empty Houses Homes

Earlier this year, the Danos Foundation Awarded $20,000 to the Houston Furniture Bank’s No Kids on the Floor Project. Houston Furniture Bank’s goal is to provide universal furniture assistance to families and individuals in need. The funds from Danos GIVES supplied 100 children with a twin mattress set of their own. The beds were manufactured in the organization's facility and distributed to local families in need.Studies show that a good night’s rest is essential for children. With the new school year just starting, we are thrilled to know that these children are sleeping on a comfortable bed in preparation for the next school day.

The Houston Furniture Bank’s 2023 highlights include:

• 907 twin mattress sets distributed for the No Kids on the Floor Project

• 1,891 families served

• 4,336 individuals and children served

• 18,984 pieces of furniture distributed

• 5,864 community service hours completed

Recently, the Furniture Bank was able to provide beds for a mother and her two children along with everything they needed to furnish their home. The mother had fallen on hard times and shared with the Furniture Bank that for the first time in a long time, she felt hope.
