In this episode of the Producing Confidence Podcast, Hank and Mark Danos reflect on the values that have shaped our company for nearly 80 years—hard work, sacrifice, people-first leadership and a deep commitment to generosity.
Hank shares touching stories from childhood such as watching his father leave for seven-day hitches offshore and witnessing his parents quietly help a struggling employee's family at the dinner table. These moments planted the seeds of what would grow into Danos’ culture of care. As Mark says, “More is caught than taught.”
That lived-out generosity has evolved into the Seeds of Giving, the intentional expression of our purpose through four branches:
GIVES – supporting impactful community organizations
WORKS – matching employee volunteerism with donations
CARES – assisting employees in crisis
ROOTS – investing in strong families and future leaders
What began with a single act of kindness now lives on through committee-led efforts and employee contributions, over 20% of which come directly from our team members, proof that generosity is in our DNA. Together, we’re creating real, measurable impact while staying true to the soul of the business: honoring God, valuing people and dreaming big.
