Watching the Harvest Grow

In 2017, I had the privilege of being part of the conversations that led to the creation

of what was then called the Danos Foundation. At the time, we had big hopes but relatively modest expectations. We simply wanted to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our employees and the communities we serve.

Looking back, it is amazing to see how God multiplied those efforts beyond anything we imagined. What began as a small group of faith-filled employees has grown into an enterprise-wide movement of generosity that has touched communities, strengthened families and changed lives, including my own.

What started as a small group of faith-filled employees with a passion for serving others has grown into an enterprise-wide movement of generosity. The committee grew. The amount we were able to give grew. Our programs expanded. And year after year, as we reflected on the impact being made, we continued asking one question: How can we do more?

The answer became The Seeds of Giving.

Through Danos CARES, employees facing hardships have received support when they needed it most. Through Danos GIVES, communities and nonprofit organizations have received funding to advance meaningful work. Through Danos WORKS, employees who volunteer their time are able to multiply their impact through financial donations to organizations they care deeply about. ROOTS has provided opportunities for spiritual growth and leadership development for employees and their families. Most recently, WORKS+ was created to fill a gap by providing smaller grants throughout the year to organizations where employees are already investing their time and talents.

The programs have grown, but what amazes me most is that I've been blessed to experience each of them personally.

I helped build the GIVES framework, and today I still have the opportunity to help deliver checks to organizations throughout our communities. There is something powerful about seeing firsthand the people, programs and lives impacted by those donations. What begins as a grant application becomes a story of hope, service and transformation.

I helped build the WORKS framework, and now I get to log my own volunteer hours and deliver a donation to an organization that means so much to me. It is a reminder that every hour invested in serving others matters and that generosity is about more than money; it's about showing up.

I helped build the CARES framework, and then one day I found myself on the receiving end of it. When Hurricane Harvey flooded my home, I lost everything. I didn't know what to do or where to go. My teammates literally helped rescue me in an airboat, but they also lifted my spirits during one of the hardest seasons of my life. The CARES assistance I received, funded by employees and supported by Danos, felt like hundreds of hugs wrapped into one. It was a tangible reminder that I wasn't alone and that things were going to be okay.

I helped build the ROOTS framework, and through it I've attended mission trips, retreats and conferences that have challenged me to become a better sister, daughter, friend and child of God. Those experiences have strengthened my faith and shaped who I am far beyond the workplace.

When I look back on the past nine years, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude. I've had the privilege of helping build many of these programs, but even more importantly, I've had the blessing of experiencing them.

That's what makes The Seeds of Giving so special. It's not just something Danos does, it's who we are. It's generosity in action. It's compassion when people need it most. It's service that extends beyond our workplace and into our communities. It's a commitment to caring for people for the long haul.

I've learned that The Seeds of Giving isn't really about grants, volunteer hours or programs. It's about people. It's about seeing others in His Image and responding with love. It's about putting Families First when life gets hard. It's about building Long-Term Partnerships that strengthen our communities. It's about making Passionate Investments in people and causes that matter.

Matthew 25 reminds us that when we care for those who are hungry, hurting, struggling or in need, we are serving Christ Himself. I've seen that truth come to life again and again through The Seeds of Giving.

The name couldn't be more fitting. Danos has spent years planting seeds in the lives of employees, families and communities. I know because those seeds were planted in me. Through some of the hardest moments and some of the most meaningful experiences of my life, I've been surrounded by people who chose to give, serve and care. The Seeds of Giving has provided rich soil for all of us to grow not only into better employees, but into better neighbors, better family members, better servants and better followers of Christ. And for that, I will always be grateful.

The future of The Seeds of Giving isn't found in a committee meeting or a program handbook—it's found in each of us. Whether through a donation, a volunteer hour, a prayer, a mission trip or simply showing up for someone in need, you have the opportunity to plant seeds that may change a life forever. I encourage you to get involved, share your gifts and be part of the harvest. You may never fully see the impact of the seeds you plant, but I can tell you from personal experience that they matter more than you know.

The Seeds of Giving changed my life, and I pray its harvest continues to bless generations of Danos employees, families and communities long after my own story becomes just one small part of it.

I am living proof that when we faithfully plant seeds of generosity, compassion, service and commitment, God can grow something far more beautiful than we ever imagined.
