WORKS Volunteers Come Together to Restore Our Coast
Updated: 6 days ago

On September 25, Danos WORKS volunteers gathered along the Golden Meadow levee with a shared purpose: to make a lasting difference in the community we call home.
The event brought Danos's purpose to life.
In partnership with Restore or Retreat, an organization dedicated to preserving our coast, community and culture; LOOP, one of our valued customers; the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF); and the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA); volunteers spent the day working side by side to protect a landscape deeply connected to our way of life.
The work wasn't easy. Boots disappeared into the mud. Volunteers battled heat, insects and the occasional tumble into the water. Yet throughout the day, laughter echoed across the marsh and conversations flowed as freely as the bayou around us.
That spirit of teamwork and service is what made the event truly special.
More than a planting effort, this was an investment in our future. Every grass plug planted helps strengthen the wetlands that protect our communities, support local wildlife and preserve the culture that makes South Louisiana unique.
By the end of the day, the numbers told an impressive story:
More than 40 volunteers
Approximately 130 hours of service
Over 9,000 marsh grass plugs planted
250 roseau cane plants added to support coastal restoration
But the greatest impact couldn't be measured. It was found in the people who came together, the partnerships that made the day possible and the shared commitment to leaving our communities stronger than we found them.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered and to the partners who helped make this effort possible. Your dedication demonstrates what can happen when purpose, partnership and service come together.
And we're just getting started.
Stay tuned for future marsh planting opportunities. Together, we can continue growing our impact and strengthening the communities we call home.

On behalf of Ms.Polly, myself, and the entire RESTORE OR RETREAT family, we wish to thank the Danos WORKS team, and ALL partners and volunteers who helped make this planting a successful event. In addition to getting great coastally-conscience citizens out in the field to visualize first-hand our successful flood-protection system, we made a difference in improving the resiliency of that system.
