Restore or Retreat
On behalf of Restore or Retreat, Ducks Unlimited/ConocoPhilips, The Wisner Land Trust and Greater New Orleans Foundation, we invite you to register for our revisit planting of Phase-3 of the Fourchon Terraces. Lunch and all hydration are provided, and each volunteer will receive a special commemorative bag.
When? November 7 and 8, from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. each day.
Where? 20927 LA-1, Golden Meadow, LA
Scope of work: Riding via boat short distances to terraces to plant locally grown Black Mangroves in teams. Approximately 14,000 plants total for this multi-day event. This is muddy work, so rubber boots are required for this event. The terraces you will be planting provide critical storm surge attenuation, sediment retention and erosion control. Additionally, they recreate critically lost habitat for migratory birds and fisheries within the region.
Houma Pumpkin Patch
The Danos Foundation will be sponsoring a craft table at the Houma Pumpkin Patch.
When? Saturday, October 18, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Where? Living Word Church, 1916 Hwy 311, Schriever, LA 70359
If you or your family members are interested in volunteering, please email Tish Hebert (tish.hebert@danos.com) to sign up for a time slot.
